#140. Paul Hutchinson, Allegations, and Maintaining Neutrality

So I read and I cross referenced, and I tried my best to conduct my due diligence by vetting through the information that were presented by Vice News, Daily Mail, UK Newsfeed, and all available news sources, to name a few. Just to make this crystal clear, I am not here as the prosecutor or the judge. I do not know what I do not know, especially such allegations were from seven years ago in 2016, according to the leaked footage and sources of media.

And also I recorded this episode virtually with Paul Hutchinson about two months before the surface allegations that came out on September 19. And today's day of recording is September 26, Tuesday, exactly a week after the allegations have surfaced. I wanted to be very diligent and extra thoughtful about recording this episode, to share my two cent, and also to address some of the listeners that sent me graciously their concerns and the news article that came across last week.

As someone that is open gradually about my Christian faith on the podcast, especially during my conversation with Paul Hutchinson, I wanted to be responsible and be thoughtful for some of my students from church that do listen to my show and some of my former and current patients as a psychotherapist. Once again, the intention and the purpose of this recording is not to share my moral judgment or share my moral position. I'm simply trying my best to share my two cent and to remove ourselves from any position in the allegations by maintaining neutrality.

As we all know, the integrity of the journalism has been on a decline in the last few years with the rapid rise of sensationalism and sensational news headline culture that we currently live in, while recognizing the potential validity of these news source and the surface allegations about Paul Hutchinson. So I thought the best approach is for me to hop on the mic and to share some of my commentaries and my feelings towards Paul and our interview experiences. I try my best as a psychotherapist to conduct my due diligence and my team, we spend hours vetting and cross referencing and doing our own research.

Most notably, we do a pre interview questionnaire and we also do a direct 30 to 45 minutes discovery call. That is our final vetting process because, of course, we cannot trust anything or everything we read on the Internet. There's a lot of curator content and many of us have become exceptionally good at wearing masks and navigating our day to day with our curator persona.

That said, we are not perfect. But based on our research and my vetting process with Paul Hutchinson, he seemed very legitimate and he seemed very genuine about his line of work as a billionaire turned philanthropist turned undercover agent that helped rescue many, many children from the dark and doomed reality of sex trafficking rings in Central America, South America, and also across the world. And also the time of the recording was about two months before the surface allegations.

And I wanted to front load our episode by releasing on September 11, Monday, about two weeks ago, because the episode that just went live yesterday was with Erin Dorsey, a sex trafficking survivor turned founder of Red Circle Project. And her mission is also to educate the public about the insidious psychological tactics that many sexual predators and online groomers utilize to groom these children toward their dark and doomed reality. And September is Sobriety month, so I wanted to be thematic by advocating and spotlighting this very little talked about yet really important topics of sex addictions and porn addiction, especially through this very graphic and grotesque and unforgivable domains of child porn specifically.

So with all these decision making points and all these thought process for the last week, I decided to record this solo commentary episode today on September 26, to share my decision of deciding to keep the episode on all my platforms. And because I've done a lot of digging online since the allegations surfaced on Tuesday, September 19, and we were unable to identify any further evidence and according to all the available news sources, it has been indicated that the FBI allegations that ignited all these in 2016 were cleared. And he has been officially clear of all charges by the FBI at the time.

And we do not know what we do not know, and I generally do believe on the profound impact of his line of work and his other co operators. At the same time, I have to be cautious and deliberate and thoughtful regarding the surface allegations and why our team decided to keep this episode on the platform at this time. If there are additional allegations and more information that surface since this recording of September 26, we are happy to provide updates and as needed, the most appropriate responses accordingly.

Just to conclude, we are not here to share any moral judgments or moral positions. We only know what is available to us through our research and what has been surfaced online, and we just wanted to simply remove ourselves from any position in the allegations, because this is an educational podcast, this is not a Gotcha show, we do not indulge in any controversies, nor we have any desire to. This is simply an extent of my effort to provide more educational opportunities online.
